Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Strider (“we”, “the app”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Strider is an independence companion for older and mobility-impaired adults and their families.

Who we are

Strider is provided by Strider, United Kingdom. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@strider.care. We are the data controller for the information described here.

Information we collect

• Account: your email address, used only to sign you in (no password is stored — sign-in is by emailed link).
• Your profile: the name you choose to be called and your town (used to show local weather).
• Daily check-ins: the things you tap each day — got out, meals, hydration, up-and-about, mood, medication taken, and the “I’m OK” button.
• Medication details you choose to add (names, times, refill dates).
• Equipment and contacts you choose to add to your vaults.

Some of this is health-related and is treated as sensitive. We collect it only because you enter it to use the app’s features, and we rely on your consent to do so.

Photos and the camera

When you use “scan a bill” or “scan a label”, the photo is read on your own device to pull out the details. The image is not uploaded to us or anyone else — it never leaves your phone.

Where your information is stored

• On your device first. The app works locally and keeps your data on your device.
• In the cloud only if you sign in. If you create an account, your data is synced to our hosting provider (Supabase) so it’s available on your other devices. We use a UK/EU region where available.

Sharing with family

If you invite a family member with an invite code, they get a read-only view of your weekly trends and the contacts you’ve stored. You choose to share, you can pause sharing at any time in Settings, and family never see live location or real-time tracking — only gentle weekly trends. We never share your data with anyone you haven’t invited.

Service providers

• Supabase — secure database, sign-in and sync (only if you create an account).
• Netlify — hosting the app.
• WeatherAPI.com — to show local weather, your town name is sent to fetch the forecast. No personal identifiers are sent.

What we don’t do

We do not sell your data. We do not show advertising. We do not use your health information for any purpose other than providing the app’s features to you and the family you invite.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, or delete your data, and withdraw consent. In the app you can edit or remove your information, pause family sharing, sign out, or “Start over” to clear your setup. To request full deletion of your account data, contact us at hello@strider.care. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Keeping your data

We keep your account data while your account exists. If you ask us to delete it, or delete your account, we remove it from our systems.

Children

Strider is designed for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

We may update this policy. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
